Faves Deliver In Second Leg Of Don Mills
V Squared was a repeat winner while Lexis Amigo bounced back from a tough loss to capture their respective divisions in Sunday’s second leg of the Don Mills Trotting Series for four-year-olds at Woodbine Racetrack

Scott Zeron did some fancy stick handling with V Squared on the final turn in the opening $25,000 contest and the pair prevailed by almost a length in 1:56.1. Celebrity Hercules (Jason Brewer) finished a lapped-on second with Good Luck Penny (Sylvain Filion) rounding out the top three. V Squared returned $4.80 as the public’s choice.
The gelded son of Pegasus Spur - Ion Rouge, who was 13 of 24 starts last season, is now three-for-four early in 2010 for Scott Zeron, who co-owns along with Michael Katz, Stephen Waldman and Scott Robinson. Father Rick Zeron does the training of V Squared, who went over the $100,000 mark in career earnings with the win.
In the second division, Lexis Amigo rebounded after making a late break in stride in leg one of the series to post a dominant win for driver Mike Saftic in 1:55.4. The gelded son of Amigo Hall - Lexus Hall cruised to victory over Kilted Pride (Mario Baillargeon) and Tad The Stud (Luc Ouellette) while kicking back $5.90 for the win.
It was the first trip to the winner’s circle this season in three starts for Lexis Amigo, who is owned and trained by Norm Dunstan of Caledon Village, Ontario. The winner’s share of the purse increased his career bankroll to just over $100,000.
The $60,000 final of the Don Mills Trotting Series will go postward next Sunday afternoon from Woodbine.
