Miller Tops Amateurs At Scioto
Young Eddie Miller just keeps rolling along. Tonight at Scioto Downs the talented youngster defeated nine others when he guided Bold Strategy to a gate to wire win in 1:56.3 in the $7,500 leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association series.
Sent off as the betting favourite in the contest, Bold Strategy returned a $3.80 win mutuel.
With the crowded field Miller had little choice other than sending his trotter to the front from post five and they got first call at the quarter in :28.1. Surprisingly most drivers had found a seat for their steeds along the pylons and Miller was unchallenged as he led the competition by the half in :58.2
Gregg Keidel was the first to move when he tipped Cruzen Cassi to the outside as Miller showed the way by the three quarters in 1:27.4. But when the field turned for home Bold Strategy put it in another gear and cruised away to a four length triumph. Cruzen Cassi finished second while A Royal Line garnered the show dough for Steve Oldford.
It was Eddie Miller's sixth driving victory in just 11 starts this season.
Bold Strategy, a four-year-old Break The Bank K gelding, is owned by Rebecca Sugg, Watson Harness Racing and Mary Stucky and trained by his driver.
