No Time Lost In Delaware

Delaware lost no time yesterday in moving forward on table games at its racinos, hoping to get a jump on neighboring Pennsylvania, where the games also have been

approved.

Delaware’s senate voted 15-4 yesterday in favor of the legislation, and later in the day governor Jack Markell signed the legislation into law. The measure establishes tax rates, forms an oversight committee, and creates 40 new state jobs for overseeing the games and regulating them.

Ed Sutor, CEO of Dover Downs, told delawareonline.com that Dover’s racino would begin working quickly to order materials for the table games and hire staffers to man them.

He expected that barring any unforeseen delays, Dover would have table games in operation before the Pennsylvania tracks.
