Eighteen-year-old horse enthusiast Charlotte Jantz-Lee has cracked the mainstream media by giving a retired racehorse, Rio Pizzazz, a lot of love. The 13-year-old gelding may be retired from his on-track career, but the son of Bomb Rickles has been put to work by the eager teenager

.

A story on peacearchnews.com explains that Jantz-Lee has been working at the BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society's Greener Pastures non-profit charitable organization in south Surrey eight hours a week for about six months.

Volunteers such as Jantz-Lee train the horses for recreational use. They are familiarized with saddles, and taught to walk, trot, stop and steer.

But Jantz-Lee has been doing more than just re-training Rio Pizzazz, a career winner of 10 races and more than $48,000 in purse earnings.

To exhibit Rio Pizzazz’s tranquil nature and raise awareness about standardbreds and Greener Pastures, Jantz-Lee rode the gelding on busy, main roads in Abbotsford, BC to five preschools, a middle school and two high schools last week. She then handed out disposable cameras to students, who pet and took pictures of 'Pizzazz.'
