Fort Erie To Reduce Number Of VLTs
In today's 'brick and mortar' gaming environment, racetracks that are not legally allowed to host video lottery terminals at their facilities are doing all they can to get the laws changed. That is why it comes as such a surprise when a racetrack is giving machines back
.
A report today by The Buffalo News cites Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. spokesman Don Pister as saying that the number of slot machines at the Fort Erie Racetrack for thoroughbreds will be reduced from 1,079 to 400.
The article states that the planned cutback comes one month after a three-year deal was reached to keep the more than century-old track open.
Pister was cited as saying that there will be a reduction in staff, but the OLG hopes to do so without resorting to layoffs.
