Miller On A Roll In GLADA
Racing fans in the Midwest are witnessing a rising star in Eddie Miller. The 22-year-old mid-westerner is off to a great start this season, and after his 1:57.2 driving victory on Saturday (April 3) with Star Chip at Northfield Park, he now has three wins in five seasonal starts.
Last season from a limited amount of trips behind the starting gate, Miller won six times.
Sent at odds of over 13-1 in the Great Lakes Amateur Driver's Association (GLADA) Trot, Miller's charge buzzed away from post 5 and settled in behind Better Call Saul in a :28 first quarter. Then he sat still trailing the pacesetter by the half in :57.4.
Star Chip was still trailing the leader until the top of the lane, where Larry Ferrari and Dont Touch Me were living on the outside as the field headed for paydirt. So Miller ducked inside and rallied the veteran gelding to a solid one-length win over Better Call Saul. Voss Volo and Manny Miller rallied to finish third as Dont Touch Me faded and finished fifth
The winner, Star Chip is a 10-year-old gelded son of Chip Chip Hooray and owned by Rebecca Sugg and trained by his driver. He returned a $29.60 win mutuel.
