'Smokeshow' In London Preferred
Smoke N Reactor N was treated to a sweet trip in Friday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and she didn’t let it go to waste.
In rein to owner/trainer J.R. Plante, Smoke N Reactor N left out from Post 5 and dropped into the pocket behind pacesetter Powerful Chris. That odds-on favourite served up fractions of :28.1, :58.3 and 1:28, but she came up empty in the late stages of the mile after being pressured by the first-over Saulsbrook Jessie.
Plante, who was buried on the rail until late in the mile, found clearance for Smoke N Reactor N and the mare sprinted home in :29.3 to win by three-quarters of a length over Sirius Star in 1:58. Saulsbrook Jessie hung tough to be beaten that same margin while finishing third.
The seven-year-old daughter of Auckland Reactor N-Smoke N Mirrors has assembled a 3-1-0 record in first four starts for Plante, and her 2021 record now stands at 3-2-0 from six assignments. The eight-time winner pushed her lifetime earnings to $66,072 with the win.
