Tymal Tarot Putting It Together
After going 0-for-20 during last year’s sophomore season, trotting gelding Tymal Tarot has really found his form in 2021 for owner/trainer Rod Hughes.
The four-year-old son of Kadabra-J M Aggie rallied for a 1:56.2 victory in Thursday’s $20,000 trotting feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and in doing so he improved this year’s record to 2-1-1 from just four assignments.
Tymal Tarot worked his way into an early two-hole for driver Sylvain Filion while Heaven worked her way to the lead and supplied the field with an opening quarter of :27.3.
Filion promptly hustled his charge past that foe when the group hit the backstretch, but Tymal Tarot was then overtaken by Tymal Riggs. The new leader carved out middle fractions of :57.3 and 1:27.1 before being confronted in the lane by the re-rallying Tymal Tarot. He used a :29-second closing quarter to win by three-quarters of a length over HP Starlette. Tymal Riggs was third.
The three-time winner bumped his lifetime earnings to $50,114 with the victory.
It was one of Sylvain Filion’s three wins on the 10-race card. He continues to lead all reinsman at Woodbine Mohawk Park with 40 wins.
