Surreal Feeling Wires Saratoga Gals
Surreal Feeling recorded a wire-to-wire win in Wednesday's (March 31) $10,000 distaff pacing feature at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
The So Surreal mare, who invaded Saratoga off a 1:51.1 career best victory at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono last week, worked hard early to achieve the lead in a :27.2 first quarter. From there, she coasted through middle fractions of :57.2 and 1:25.4. Jimmy Devaux asked Surreal Feeling for her best around the final turn, and while rival Pammy Jo (Shawn Gray) made progress in the stretch, the chase was futile. Surreal Feeling, who was sent off the 2-5 favourite, stopped the timer in 1:54.2. Pammy Jo was second; long shot Thats Incredible (Billy Dobson) finished third.
Trainer Dale Lawton co-owns Surreal Feeling, a 23-time winner in 70 career starts, with Chris Lawton.
Live racing at Saratoga Casino Hotel resumes Monday afternoon (April 5), and will feature a growing carryover of $7,534 in the Jackpot Pick-6. First post is 12 noon.
