London Feature To Casimir Swamp Girl
Colin Kelly put the pedal to the metal with Casimir Swamp Girl in Friday’s Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and Kyle Bossence trainee never looked back in the $12,000 feature.
Casimir Swamp Girl left hard from Post 4 and wound up laying down fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:27.2 before using a :29.3 final frame to win by 1-3/4 lengths over the even-money favourite, Sweet Heaven, in 1:57. Casino Classic rallied from last to finish third.
The five-year-old daughter of Up The Credit-Trust Me Ashley is now 3-for-4 this season for owner William Pendleton of Kenilworth, Ont. The 21-time winner has banked $117,601 to date.
An accident involving three horses took place in the second race, but no serious injuries occurred as a result of the mishap.
Grace Too (Travis Henry) made a break near the head of the stretch while racing on the lead, and Stay Safe (Andy Moore) ducked inside of that foe but hooked wheels with the leader in the process. Henry was dumped from his bike when Grace Too fell, but Moore’s charge managed to stay on its feet. Shadow Ofdawn Jazz (Tyler Borth) also collided into the racebike of the fallen horse, and that unseated Borth from the bike.
Officials at The Raceway told Trot Insider all horses and drivers came away unscathed from the incident.
