Red Bugler Revving Up

After making some serious noise towards the end of the 2009 racing season, Red Bugler is putting in his fair share of winter miles in preparation for what could be

a big 2010 campaign.

Bred and owned by Don and Sheila Anness of Emo, Ontario, the three-year-old son of Cammibest-My Friend Flicka made 10 starts as a rookie and put together eights wins and a pair of second-place finishes along the way. His most impressive feat, however, was the 1:51.2 record he earned near the end of October.

Red Bugler is a once in a life-time opportunity for us,” Don Anness told the Fort Frances Times. “We will never have another horse like this one, so we just want to enjoy the next couple of years and see what he can do.”

“He can go fast, let me tell you, and doesn’t know the end of the mile,” added trainer Rheal Bourgeois. “I want him [Red Bugler] to have some starts in him before the season begins in May. I really think he can become a very serious horse this summer”.
