Court Date Set For Brooks

According to a report, a United States federal prosecutor yesterday asked that a judge order standardbred horse owner David Brooks and several of his relatives to forfeit a $400 million bond they had guaranteed in order

for him to stay out of jail while he awaits trial.

As stated in the harnessracing.com article, Brooks had been out of jail pending trial of charges that arose in 2007 which claimed that he 'looted' his company of $186 million.

The article also states that Brooks' trial is set to get underway Tuesday, January 26 in Central Islip, New York. Jury selection process is reported to be underway.

The article states that Brooks has also made a motion to the court that he needs $10 million to pay his lawyers. A determination on the bond will reportedly be made Friday, January 22.
