Buttermilk Hanover Perfect In Preferred
Post seven proved to be no problem for Buttermilk Hanover, who was sent off as the favourite and then delivered a winning effort in Friday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Assigned that outside starting spot in the eight-mare affair, Buttermilk Hanover powered off the starting gate for driver Travis Henry and engaged Significance in backstretch battle in the early going. Significance carved out the first quarter in :28.4, but eventually gave way to Buttermilk Hanover.
The Melissa Lamoureux trainee then hustled through middle splits of :58.2 and 1:27 before scooting home in :29.2 to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Significance in 1:56.2. Taking home third prize was Bidfora Hug.
Sent off as the 8-5 choice in the featured event, Buttermilk Hanover won for the 30th time in her career. The eight-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Bet Me Hanover, who is owned by 8113564 Canada Ltd and Jeff Boyd, has banked $368,635 to date.
