Flexibility For Splitting Jug Elims; Grand Circuit Sustaining Payments Due

Directors of the Little Brown Jug Society voted at its annual meeting last September to restructure the splitting of the Little Brown Jug eliminations

.

With the change, race officials will be able to be much more flexible in splitting the race into eliminations.

In a situation like the one that occurred in 2009, when there were 19 horses entered, the officials will be able to split the race into three eliminations of six, six and seven rather than the 10 and nine-horse fields that the officials had to draw last year.

The estimated purse for the 2010 Little Brown Jug is $700,000, while the estimated purse for the 2010 Jugette is $400,000.

The Jugette will be raced Wednesday, September 22. The Little Brown Jug will be raced Thursday, September 23.
