Arts Card Shark To Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Standardbred Horsemen's Association president Glenn Le Drew has announced that Arts Card Shark has been moved from SKY West Farms in Alberta and will stand in Saskatchewan

.

“This is pretty good news for harness racing in Saskatchewan,” Le Drew was quoted as saying in a release.

Arts Card Shark is by Artsplace and is out of the Cam Fella mare Cam Magic.

“The main reason we got him here is likely that he doesn’t have much of a race record," Le Drew explained. "I’m not sure why his racing career was so short, but someone thought quite highly of him as a yearling -- he originally sold at the Kentucky Sale for $55,000.”

Le Drew went on to state that there hasn’t been much breeding in Saskatchewan over the course of the last few years, but there is an attempt in the works to try to get Saskatchewan Sires Stakes going again.

“There will be some challenges, but in order for it to have any opportunity to grow – it has to have a beginning. We want to try and help create that beginning and give it a chance…a future,” Le Drew said.

Arts Card Shark (p,6,Q2:03f - $700) previously stood in Alberta. Le Drew said, “I think we’re lucky to have him here.

"He hadn’t booked many mares there simply because As Promised gets most of them, but to have access to those kinds of bloodlines in Saskatchewan is good news for broodmares here.”

Arts Card Shark's average earnings per starter is $33,613.00 and of his 43 starters – six were winners of over $100,000 and half of those paced in 1:55 or better.

His fee has been set at $500.
