Callahan Takes Seven At Dover
The 2009 season was kind to driver Corey Callahan when it came to earnings, and he added to his impressive overall totals with a very big night at the office on Sunday
at Dover Downs.
Callahan, a career winner of 1,279 races, picked up seven of those wins during Sunday’s 15-race program at Dover Downs.
Callahan was the runner-up in the opener, but he found his way to victory lane with As Bad As Thunder (1:55.4). He came right back with Pacific Pleasure (1:57.2) in the next race and completed the natural hat trick with GEs Jackson (1:56.1) in Race 4.
He went wire-to-wire with Aidens Artist (1:54.4) in Race 8, and returned to the winner’s circle with Im Outtahair (1:53.3) in Race 10. Kaikapo Lil N (1:56.1) held on for a narrow score in Race 13 to bring Callahan’s nightly total to six and he finished with a bang thanks to a victory with Ted Or Alive (1:56) in Race 15.
Callahan, who has driven more than 400 winners in each of the last two seasons, is quickly closing in on $16 million in lifetime earnings.
