Mohawk Completes Thursday Qualifiers
Spots of sunshine shone on Woodbine Mohawk Park for the 10-race qualifying session on Thursday (March 4) over a track rated “good”.
Northern Sultan started the session with the fastest trotting mile on the morning, clocking a mile in 1:58.4 after sweeping towards the lead circling the final turn. Stalking fractions of :30.1, :59.2 and 1:29.1, Northern Sultan capped the mile with a :29.1 final quarter in rein to Chris Christoforou. Murray Brethour trains the four-year-old Royalty For Life gelding.
In the following event, Play Jet Ray went the fastest pacing mile, strolling gate to wire in 1:55.3. Also with Christoforou in the bike, the six-year-old Shadow Play gelding set a pace of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:27.4 before sprinting to the finish in :27.4 while pressured by pocket-popper Fast N First. Julie Robinson trains Play Jet Ray.
Later in the morning, Alberta superstar Major Custard hit the finish first in a 1:56.3 mile. The now four-year-old Custard The Dragon gelding set a pace of :30, :59 and 1:28.2 before coasting through a :28.1 final quarter to finish a length better than Sweet Diesel. Moneyman Hill, who finished third in last year’s North America Cup behind Tall Dark Stranger, finished another length farther back in third.

It's real nice of Woodbine to
It's real nice of Woodbine to show the people the qualifiers, another good way of getting new clients interested in the possibility of becoming new faces in this exciting sport of competition where the chances of winning is 1 in 10, or 1 in 8 depending on the # of horses entered, and who knows the amount you can win for a 0.20 cent bet. I just wish I was on the committee panel of advertising with what I know, you got to give a little to get a little.
