Rossridge Tristar Does It Again
For the second week in a row, Rossridge Tristar came on to win over pacesetter Red Star Hottie in the $13,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace this evening at Fraser Downs
.
Letting Red Star Hottie (James Burke) control the pace, Rossridge Tristar sat back in third through early intervals of :28 and :57.2. With trainer-driver Barry Treen in the bike, the even-money favourite popped the pocket en route to three-quarters in 1:25.2 and locked in a stretch duel with the leader. The pair took off down the lane and after a thrilling battle, Rossridge Tristar stuck her neck in front to win in a career-best 1:54. Jans Rich Girl (Scott Knight) finished five lengths back in third.
The winning six-year-old daughter of Mach Three-Stars Shine Down is owned by the Estate Of Niele A Jiwan of Burnaby, B.C. Her second win of the year and 15th lifetime pushed her earnings over the $200,000 mark. Rossridge Tristar has won all three of her races for Treen since joining his barn at the end of December.
