First Western Fair Thursday Card Today
The 2010 racing season at Western Fair adds live racing on Thursday afternoons to the mix from January to April, with the first of those cards going postward today at 3:35
p.m.
An interesting horse to watch on the 12-race program is Force Of Luck, the eight horse in the fourth race, a $5,000 conditioned event for fillies and mares. Trained and driven by Dan Megens, the 10-year-old distaffer has not made a pari-mutuel start for more than a year.
Western Fair regulars should remember Force Of Luck, who raced fairly often at the London track from 2004 to 2008. They should also be familiar with her more famous younger brother, the ill-fated Stormaway, who won Western Fair’s signature race, the $283,000 Molson Pace, last year for Megens and partners Janice Van Nest of Hamilton, Ont. and Peter Caetano of Ancaster, Ont.
Force Of Luck is also owned by Van Nest, Caetano and Megens and has $110,000 in earnings on her card. Today’s start will be the first pari-mutuel outing for the Camluck mare since November 13 of 2008.
