Sears: 'Big M' Colony The Toughest

In a recent video interview by the Meadowlands Racetrack, Brian Sears, who has won every one of the track's driving titles since 2005, said that the 'Big M' drivers' colony is the toughest in the world

.

In an interview with the track's famed statistician, Bob 'Hollywood' Heyden, Sears said that he will be gunning for a sixth straight title in 2010.

"I'd like to (win another Big M driving title in 2010) -- that's always a goal," said Sears, who went on to say, "it's the toughest driving colony in the world. I'm very proud of the fact that I was able to win it five years in a row, and I'd love to do it again."

Although, as the video segment goes on, it is revealed that 'The White Knight' should have some increased pressure from another one of the globe's top catch-drivers.

Heyden asked Tim Tetrick how his schedule will be affected with Chester Racetrack going back to a 'day' schedule when it re-opens for live racing.

"It gives me more opportunity to be here (Meadowlands) every night, which I think will help me out. [I'll] stay here more often and make this my number one spot," said Tetrick, who went on to state, "one of my dreams has always been to win a driving title at the Meadowlands, and hopefully I can get that done."

David Miller, who has won over 9,200 races and steered his mounts to over $132 million in purses, also plans to be right there in the drivers' battle.

"Towards the end of the year my stock got a little weak there, but so far this year it is looking like I'm going to have some nice horse to drive," Miller said.

Hey, I really enjoyed that video. I think this is the kind of thing the industry has to do more of - we have to make stars of these guys.

Don't get me wrong, I know all the hard work is done behind the scenes by the trainers, grooms etc and all the money is put up by the owners... but it's the drivers in their flashy bright colours that the fans see, they're the superheroes in the eyes of the public, we need to promote these guys, get fans excited about em, make them "sexy". Videos like the one above is a step in the right direction.
