Abbetross Final To Good Bad Or Best
Full of late pace, California import Good Bad Or Best swept past his fellow claiming pacers in the stretch to capture the lion’s share of the $8,000 prize in the Abbetross A Series Final Sunday at Fraser Downs
.
Good Bad Or Best and David Hudon, positioned sixth at the rail, watched as Lonnie Mack (Mike Hennessy) led the field through stations of :27.3, :57 and 1:26. As the pacers entered the stretch, the backfield began to close in on the leader and spread out across the track with Good Bad Or Best widest of them all. Unleashing a :29.4 final frame, the 5-1 shot powered home for the victory in 1:57 over a track rated “good” and one second off.
Piper (Jim Marino), apart of the favoured entry, finished three-quarters of a length behind off a pocket trip while 81-1 longshot Red Star Yogi (Doug Chappell) rallied for third.
Debra McCarty trains and co-owns Good Bad Or Best with Mark Anderson of Willows, California. The 10-year-old Cambest-Sister Alert gelding won four of his 33 starts in 2009 and banked just under $10,000. His 33rd career win today pushes his bankroll to over $225,000.
Ed Hensley drove four winners on the 11-race program including three of his own pupils, Designer Dreams (1:56.1), Fast Change Art (1:54.4) and Stonebridge Camlot (1:56).
