Pace Baby Pace Powers To Victory
Pace Baby Pace was sharp in Wednesday’s (Dec. 2) $16,200 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows, moving three wide at the three-quarters to notch the victory.
Summer Charm, seeking her fourth straight win, inherited the point when Diamondtequilashot broke stride near the three-eighths. But she was no match for the power play of Pace Baby Pace, who defeated her by 1-1/4 lengths for Dave Palone in 1:52.1 over a good surface. Sports Flix shot the Lightning Lane for show.
Ron Burke trains Pace Baby Pace, a four-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou and Breakheart Pass who lifted her career bankroll to $186,693, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Aaron Merriman, Dan Rawlings, trainer Jason Shaw and Palone all enjoyed doubles on the 13-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday (Dec. 4), when the 13-race program features a pair of carryovers: $5,715.22 in the Pick-5 (race 8) and $3,962.10 in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
