Pillage And Burn Eyes Red Shores

After romping over his rivals last week, Pillage And Burn will look for a repeat in the Saturday afternoon (Nov. 28) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The 11-dash card gets underway at 12:30 p.m.

Pillage And Burn has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite by oddsmaker Gerard Smith in the $2,600 optional claiming feature — carded as race 10 of the day — and will start from post 3. Ken Murphy drives the 25-time winner for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Perry Burke. The son of Cams Card Shark has won three of his last five starts at this level and stays in the class by virtue of his $10,000 claiming tag.

Revenant is the second choice from post 4 with Adam Merner at the controls for trainer Ron Gass fresh off a pair of third-place finishes. Rockin Indy moves back up in class after winning in 1:57.1 last week for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Troy Murray, and has drawn post 1.

Peter MacPhee with the Post Time Picks places Pillage And Burn on top of his tickets:

“Pillage And Burn has been on a big time roll and just wired them last week in 1:56 flat. He’s also back inside and with Kenny calling the shots we think they get the gold again.”

Also in the field are Mick Dundee (Don MacNeill), Melanies Magic (Kenny Arsenault), Creepin (David Dowling), Shadow Of A Daut (Marc Campbell) and Sports Royalty (Gilles Barrieau).

The Eddie Power Memorial strikes the track in race 4, carrying a $1,550 purse. JK Cowboy is the top entry from post 6 with Barrieau in the driver’s seat for owner-trainer Greg MacInnis.

The top trot of the day goes as the seventh event and carries a $2,300 pot. Mile Hill Willie (Arsenault) will look to return to the winner’s circle after a near miss last week to Cheeky Little Minx (Barrieau). They will both square off again on Saturday in a field of seven.
