Tetrick Wins Five At Philly
Tim Tetrick drove five winners on Friday afternoon (Nov. 20) at Harrah's Philadelphia, including two of the afternoon's three co-featured $11,200 events for up-and-coming younger horses.
In the pacing event, General Ward tucked third early and stayed inside, then found room midway on the final turn and overhauled the favoured pacesetter Rockin The Blaze by three-quarters of a length in a lifetime mark of 1:52.2. A recent addition to the barn of trainer Scott DiDomenico, the three-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding has now won two straight, with Tetrick driving for Triple D Stables Inc., Michael Farro and M G Stable Inc.
In the first trotting headliner, the sophomore Explosive Matter gelding Bang Bang Boinga tucked early, started uncovered at the half, and used a :57 closing half to collar Gerard in a new mark of 1:56. Tetrick also drove this winner for trainer Joe Poliseno and owner Ellie Sarama.
In the other trotting feature, driver and co-owner Jackie Ingrassia rolled with Baby Donut, maintaining an open-length lead from the middle of the first turn to the middle of the stretch before holding off Doodle Hanover and Boom City while taking a new speed badge of 1:57.3. Frank Ingrassia trains the three-year-old Andover Hall filly, and Jackie’s partners on her are Donna Franchetti and Thomas Doran.
