Music Video Filmed At Red Shores
A Canadian musician has released the video for her new single, shot on location at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park around and in reference to one of Canadian harness racing's biggest event's -- the Gold Cup & Saucer.
P.E.I. singer-songwriter Kinley premiered her latest music video for "Run With You" last Friday and recently joined CBC Radio's Matt Rainnie on Mainstreet PEI to chat about the video shoot and her connection to Old Home Week.
"It's such an incredible tradition - the whole Gold Cup & Saucer race and the Exhibition," said Kinley, who had dreamed of doing a project with horses and was thrilled to be given special permission to wear the traditional Gold Cup & Saucer ambassador outfits in the music video. "I missed that this year. They still had the race, but I think they only had 600 tickets and usually there's like 10,000 people so I was missing that. But it was just so cool to be in the actual outfit. It was something I've seen growing up every single year. Just Gold Cup & Saucer week is really important to my family and my uncles used to have a racehorse so they'd come to P.E.I. every summer even though they lived in different provinces. They'd always come back to Charlottetown in August for Gold Cup & Saucer week so it's just a very nostalgic time."
Kinley, who revealed she wrote the song about a sequined-adorned Canadian rocker, said the music video was filmed during the pandemic with the help of extra crowd footage provided by the popular Exhibition Drive documentary.
"It was so fun," said Kinley. "We actually shot it the day after the Gold Cup & Saucer race so you could still feel the magic in the air and everyone was really excited."
"Huge thank you to everyone at Red Shores including but not limited to David MacKenzie and Lee Drake," Kinley posted on her website about the music video. "You helped make our childhood Gold Cup & Saucer race dreams come true!"
