Rookies Impress In Delaware Breeders
The summer temps continue in the Delaware Valley and the two-year old DSBF trotters opened the Tuesday card at Dover Downs with two non-wagering events for colts and geldings. The fillies followed in the Daily Double on the regular card. All purses were $20,000.
First non-wagering event went to Rhett (Keystone Activator-Lake Serena) in a new lifetime record of 1:57.4 for driver, Tony Morgan. He is owned and trained by 90-year-old Donnie Wiest and co-owned with his son, David. Donnie is also the breeder. Place went to Blue Devil and show to Malachis Test.
The second non-wagering event went to the Harrington final winner, Big Al M (Anders Bluestone-Bringing Up Lindy) in a new lifetime record of 1:58.1 for driver, Eddie Davis, Jr. Trained by Eddie’s son, Eric Davis and owned and bred by Bobby Myers of Greenwood. Altar Call followed 10 lengths back in second with Bluestone Jackson in the show spot.
On the regular card it was Whitesville Beulah (Anders Bluestone-Whitesville Tara) for her Maiden win in 2:01.4 for driver David Hill and trainer/owner/breeder Gary White. Harrington final winner Kims Command finished second with Toni Lee for the show.
The second half of the Daily Double was all Jazzy Judy (Political Briefing-Giant Smash) and driver Anthony MacDonald in a new lifetime record of 2:02 for trainer, Jim King, Jr. She is owned by The Stable Jazzy Judy Group of Guelph, Ontario and bred by Winbak Farm. Second was Reality and finishing third was Annalee.
The two-year old pacing fillies compete in their first leg tomorrow. Post Time is 4:30 p.m.
