Hey Livvy Repeats In Preferred
Hey Livvy made a round trip to victory lane for trainer Jeff Gillis thanks to her last-to-fire move in Monday’s $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With co-owner Trevor Henry at the controls, Hey Livvy was allowed to get away seventh while Perfetto and Im The Muscle battled to the quarter pole in :27. Im The Muscle cleared, but Perfetto quickly looped around that foe to reclaim the lead.
Perfetto hit the half in :55.2 and the three-quarter pole in 1:24.2, but the early battling did him in. P L Jill came first over on the way to the half, and she showed the lead as the field sprinted into the lane. Hey Livvy, who was third over at that point, kicked off cover and stormed home in :27.3 to win by three lengths over P L Jill in 1:52.3. Free Willy Hanover took home the show dough.
Sent off as the even-money choice, the five-year-old daughter of Donato Hanover-Nevis Bi improved her 2020 record to 9-3-0 from 19 starts for Henry and partners Ell Ott and Blue Chip Bloodstock. The 21-time winner bumped her lifetime earnings to $419,363 with the victory.
