Sister Sledge Tops Black Book 2
Multiple stakes winning trotting filly Sister Sledge fetched a final bid of more than a quarter million dollars to close out the mixed portion of the 2020 Standardbred Horse Sales Company's Black Book sale on Saturday (Nov. 7) at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md.
The $910,000-winning daughter of Father Patrick - Behindclosedoors came into the sale after two seasons of impressive performances under the tutelage of trainer Ron Burke. Sister Sledge sold for $265,000 with Sweden's Robert Lindstrom signing as agent.
Breeders Crown starter Philly Hanover also attracted a fair amount of attention before being collared by Joseph Parisi of New Jersey. The four-year-old Captaintreacherous - Paris Hanover mare brought a final bid of $225,000.
Love Muffin might not have been a regular Grand Circuit competitor in 2020 but her rookie resume shows plenty of upside, and her pedigree page is loaded with black type. The sister to the dam of Back Of The Neck from the family of Broadway Donna and Real Cool Sam, Love Muffin won seven of 10 starts as a two-year-old while competing mostly in the Pennsylvania Stallion Series. Hunterton's Steve Stewart went to $200,000 to obtain the Andover Hall - Pine Yankee filly.
The mixed portion of the Black Book sale concluded by selling 446 racehorses, broodmares, yearlings, weanlings and stallion shares for a gross total of $12,844,000.
