Campbell Sweeps Charlottetown Features
The Marc Campbell stable came to play Thursday evening sweeping the featured events at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Filly Forty Seven came from the back of the pack to win the $2,500 featured fillies and mares pace with a 1:57.1 victory for Winsloe trainer-driver Campbell.
Southwind Ion (Driven by David Dowling) laid down all the fractions leaving swiftly from post 1 to put down splits of :28.3, :56.3 and 1:26.4 but gave way to Filly Forty Seven in the final panel to finish second. Dustylane Zambucca (Corey MacPherson) was third.
Filly Forty Seven, a six-year-old Proven Lover mare, is owned by Darryl MacLean of Winsloe, Cory Carver of Montague, Katelyn Smallwood of Mermaid and Alan MacDonald of Orwell.
Freddie was victorious in the $2,400 Open Trot for trainer-driver Campbell with a 1:58.1 score as the post time favourite. Glider Man (Dowling) grabbed second with Cheeky Little Minx (Gilles Barrieau) finishing third.
Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston own the winning Majestic Son eight-year-old.
Chad Taylor celebrated his first lifetime training win in Race 7 of the evening as Lean On Who went all the way with Barrieau at the controls in 1:57.2.
