Hughgetthecredit Gets The Dough
Trainer-driver Lewis McDonell launched Hughgetthecredit to the center of the track into the final turn and claimed victory in the $1,250 featured pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday (Oct. 18).
Docs Ronhenry took command from the pylon post, leading by the first quarter in :28.4. Intended Royalty popped pocket moving to a :58.4 half while Hughgetthecredit caught that cover moving into the second lap, though Intended Royalty gained only slight ground to three-quarters in 1:28.1 and forced Hughgetthecredit to swing wide. Docs Ronhenry clung to the lead straightening for the finish but gave way to Hughgetthecredit, who strode to the finish one-and-a-quarter lengths better than odds-on favourite Daddy Let Me Drive as they rallied from last for second in a 1:59.3 mile.
A seven-year-old gelding by Up The Credit, Hughgetthecredit won his seventh race from 19 starts this season and his 13th from 68 overall, earning $90,694. Mark MacDonell owns the $7.80 winner.
