Perfetto Upsets In Mohawk Preferred
After posting a confidence-boosting win versus easier company six days ago, Perfetto marched up the Preferred ranks on Monday evening and came away with another impressive victory for trainer/driver Dagfin Henriksen.
Sent off at odds of 4-1, Perfetto got away second in early stages of the Monday evening main event. Free Willy Hanover shot to the top and sliced out a first quarter clocked in :26.2 before Henriksen hustled Perfetto to the top.
Perfetto went on to post middle panels of :56 and 1:24.4 without feeling any type of pressure, and when Henriksen called on the gelding for a big, closing quarter he complied. Perfetto rocketed home in :27.4 to win by a neck over race favourite Hey Livvy, who sat last for most of the mile. Mass Fortune K was third in the $36,000 affair.
Gerald Haggerty of Camden East, Ont. owns the five-year-old son of Majestic Son-Perfect Prelude. The win improved the 15-time winner’s 2020 record to 6-1-3 from 19 attempts. He’s now banked in excess of $350,000 in his career.
