Accident Mars Leamington Race
An incident occurred in the penultimate event at Leamington Raceway on Sunday (Oct. 4) moving to the final turn of the race.
Pacesetter Ideal Space led the field through fractions of :30.1, 1:01.2 and 1:31.4 with Minnie Million sitting the pocket and Blissfullannmarie moving into third. Shadows (Dwain Spitzig) began to lose ground from fourth nearing three-quarters and soon fell to the ground, impacting Windsong Leopold (Tyler Nostadt) and also causing trailer St Lads Steeler (Drew Neill) to go down. Windsong Leopold pulled up while the other horses got off the ground okay. Ideal Space coasted to the finish of the 2:03.2 mile with Minnie Million second and Bunkhouse Brawl, avoiding the accident, taking third.
All drivers involved in the accident were up and walking soon after per track announcer Nathan Bain. Nostadt and Neill had no other drives left on the day while Spitzig hopped back into the bike to drive his pupil Major Artattack in the final race.
