P L Jill Flawless In Preferred
On a night that speed wasn’t holding up due to a tiring track from an early-evening rainstorm, P L Jill busted the track bias and came up huge in Monday’s $36,000 Preferred Handicap for trotters.
Mario Baillargeon hustled P L Jill to the lead from Post 8 and together they carved out fractions of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:24.2 before using a :29-second closing quarter to win in 1:53.2. Mass Fortune K’s late bid fell short by a head after being treated to the pocket trip throughout the mile. Perfetto stormed home late to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 9-2, the Ben Baillargeon-trained seven-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Fridays Gem won for the ninth time this season and for the 33rd time this year. The homebred has banked over $650,000 to date for owners Prince Lee Acres, Jill Coleman and Alan Christensen.
