'The Secretary' Has It Under Control
One of the standout performances of the Sunday afternoon (Sept. 27) program at Running Aces was turned in by sophomore trotting filly SB Madam Secretary, who was guided by driver Darrell Wright.
The impressive display of determination came in the $9,200 'B' division of the Minnesota-sired trot. SB Madam Secretary was the heavy favourite from the outside Post 6 and left alertly in search of the lead. SD Eliminator and driver Brian Detgen were fast away from Post 1 and a big battle ensued -- SB Madam Secretary was parked out through the opening half mile (:28.2, :58) before retreating to drop in third.
SD Eliminator continued to command the field and led all the way into mid stretch, but SB Madam Secretary ($2.60) dug down deep and launched another rally in the late stages. SB Madam Secretary trotted past the leader to score a one and one quarter-length victory in 1:59.1. The win was her fourth victory of the season and sixth career tally.
SD Eliminator was a clear second and Al Mar Spicey Talk (Brady Jenson) finished third.
The winning filly is by Tom Ridge and is owned by Susan Holm-Johansen and Deborah Hofsaess and trained by Ulf Holm-Johansen.

The $13,800 'A' division went to Hearduwhispermynam (Rick Magee, $2.80) who posted another sharp win in 1:57.4 for three in a row and six wins on the season. Susies Sister (Brady Jenson) posted a big mile and was just a neck back in second and Teachmehowtotory (Nick Roland) checked in third.
The winner is a gelded son of Braggart owned and trained by Jenni King.
Shesureissomething (Nick Roland, $2.40) advanced to five wins in a row with another dominating performance in a $4,000 conditioned pace. Her mile in 1:54.3 was the fastest of the day. The very impressive three-year-old So Surreal filly is owned by Alan and Cheryl Sandbulte and trained by Justin Anfinson.
Driver Jacob Cutting led the Sunday program with two winners.
The Pick-5 Jackpot carryover now stands at $17,025.29.
Live racing will continue at Running Aces through October 4, with action on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
