Western Tyrant One Of Five For Palone
Western Tyrant followed live cover, then brushed wide through the lane to capture his third straight victory in Friday’s $10,800 co-feature at The Meadows, a $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap Pace.
Western Tyrant was fifth when Dave Palone positioned him behind the first-over Bugger Bruiser. The six-year-old Western Terror-Fans Bikini gelding moved three wide through the final turn and scored in 1:51.4, matching his lifetime best. Early leader Butter Bay Hanover was second, three parts of a length back, with Border Control A third.
Kevin Johnson conditions Western Tyrant, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $196,886, for Richard Briskey.
In Friday’s co-feature, also a $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap Pace, Kingstons Bad Boy was first over forever before prevailing for Aaron Merriman and giving Johnson and Briskey a sweep of the day’s top races.
Palone piloted five winners on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Ron Burke, while Merriman fashioned a four-bagger.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Monday when the 13-race program features a $36,480.30 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 and a $5,000 total-pool guarantee for the Early Pick 4 (Race 3). First post is 12:45 p.m.
