Leamington 'Capping Contest Update
Leamington track announcer Nathan Bain, on the strength of a seven-winner day, once again extended his lead on Ontario Racing handicapper Nicholas 'Ace' Barnsdale in the $500 Leamington Raceway Handicapping Challenge this past Sunday (Sept. 20).
Both handicappers had a great day, including both scoring with their 'Best Bets,' but in the end, the final tally of Bain's seven winners to Barnsdale's five resulted in a score of 83 to 65 for Bain, who started out hot by correctly forecasting the winners of the opening four dashes. Barnsdale was also on the winners of Race 1 through 3. The standings currently show Bain leading Barnsdale by 63 points (579 to 516) with five cards of racing remaining.
The Handicapping Challenge is co-sponsored by the Canadian chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA) and online Standardbred marketplace HoofBid. It is contested every week to the final day of the 2020 Leamington Raceway meet on October 25, with $300 awarded to the winner and $200 to the runner-up.
