Leamington 'Capping Contest Update
Leamington track announcer Nathan Bain maintained his commanding lead on Ontario Racing handicapper Nicholas 'Ace' Barnsdale in the $500 Leamington Raceway Handicapping Challenge this past Sunday (Sept. 13).
Both handicappers scored with five winners on the 10-race card, but Bain’s 'Best Bet' Rye N Clyne won Race 7 for leading driver Marc St. Louis Jr., who reined three winners on the afternoon, while Barnsdale’s Best Bet Bye Bye Daddy finished second in Race 5. Bain scored 65 points for the day to Barnsdale’s 63 points, extending his lead by a slight margin. Bain now leads the standings with 496 points to Barnsdale’s 451. With six race days remaining at Leamington this season, Barnsdale still has time to close the gap.
The Handicapping Challenge is co-sponsored by the Canadian chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA) and online Standardbred marketplace HoofBid. It is contested every week to the final day of the 2020 Leamington Raceway meet on October 25, with $300 awarded to the winner and $200 to the runner-up.
