Nine Is Fine For Enavant

The wins are piling up quickly for pacer Enavant who swept past foes in deep stretch Thursday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park in what turned out to be his ninth win in as many assignments for trainer Max Velaye.

After seven consecutive scores to kick off his career at Hippodrome 3R, the hulking, four-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Lady Be Great made the move to the Campbellville, Ont. oval on September 3. He came away that night with a win and a new lifetime mark of 1:52.2.

He shaved one-fifth of a second from that record when he rallied to a 1:52.1 triumph in his $17,000 conditioned assignment during Thursday’s 11-race card.

Bob McClure got away fourth in Thursday’s effort with Enavant, who came first-over in the backstretch and eventually worked his way to the front before drawing away from foes in the late going. He kicked home in :26.4 to win by two lengths over Hunter Hill. Illgetmyown Thanks was third.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, Enavant bumped his lifetime earnings to $28,450 for the Quebec partnership of Determination of Montreal and Guy Corbeil of Mirabel.
