New Wagering Options At Clinton Finale
When Clinton Raceway hosts its annual Charity Drivers' Challenge this Sunday (Sept. 6), it will put the finishing touches on what has been a highly successful season from a wagering standpoint.
The half-mile oval has averaged $68,500 per card in wagering this season. Clinton will look to end the meet on a high note this Sunday, and have added some new wrinkles to the wagering menu.
An all-Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Late Pick-4 has been added with a guaranteed pool of $2,000. This will compliment the $2,000 guaranteed Catch Driver Early Pick-4, which has proven popular all season long and has generated an average 20-cent payout of $154.
The program will also offer an early and late double, and this week’s Survivor Sunday contest will have an increased top prize of $250 for the winner.
This year's event is a fundraiser for the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 140, based in Clinton. Anyone wishing to contribute can contact Jessica Carnochan at 519.955.6820 for information. The drivers are committing their five per cent commissions from the overnight races, and trainer Terry Fritz has also pledged his five per cent in the hopes that other trainers may follow. Each race on the 120race card has been sponsored for $200.
As always, programs and live streaming are available at www.clintonraceway.com and the live stream can also be viewed on the Clinton Raceway Facebook and YouTube channels.
