Increases For Massachusetts S-Breds
On the recommendation of the Massachusetts Horse Racing Committee, the commissioners of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission have voted 5-0 in favour to approve a revised allocation of funds from the Race Horse Development Fund that saw the Standardbred program get an additional five per cent for purses and breeding.
From the money provided from the Race Horse Development Fund:

80% of the funds shall be allocated to purses and split 70% for Standardbreds and 30% for Thoroughbreds.

16% of the funds shall be allocated for breeding and be split 70% for Standardbreds and 30% for Thoroughbreds.

4% of the funds shall be allocated to health and pensions and be split 40% for Standardbreds and 60% for Thoroughbreds.
The vote was taken during the commission meeting on Thursday, August 27 and the changes took affect at that time.
