Jamieson Inches Closer To Record
Keeping with his steady pace, Jody Jamieson will make the rounds at Flamboro Downs and Woodbine Racetrack this weekend to complete 33 driving assignments in hopes of padding his win total
.
With 722 wins so far this year in Canada, North America’s leading driver is just 17 wins away from tying Mark MacDonald’s national single season win record of 739.
"Now that I'm this close, I'm pumped. I can't wait to get to the track. I want to enjoy it while I'm taking it all in," Jamieson told the Toronto Sun’s Rob Longley.
“I'll work every day and get as many drives as I can right up to [Dec. 29]," Jamieson said. "After that, I'll say: 'This is it.' Mentally and physically I've got to get on a beach somewhere.
"My fiancee and daughter have been very supportive and gracious through all this but they'll be expecting a lot in return."
The 33-year-old reinsman is listed to drive in Races 2 through 12 at Woodbine tonight including the $46,600 Autumn Stake final for three-year-old pacing fillies with Mach Me Not. On Saturday, Jamieson will return to Woodbine for 10 races and on Sunday, he will head to Flamboro for a full 12-race card.
