Jamieson Celebrates 5,000
En route to breaking Canada's single season win record, driver Jody Jamieson earned his 5,000th lifetime victory aboard Lucky In Lust during Wednesday afternoon’s 12th race at Flamboro Downs
.
Jamieson entered the 12-race program needing two wins to reach the milestone and after capturing the 11th race in wire-to-wire fashion with the Jean Guy Belliveau trained and owned Whippet Into Shape (1:56), he completed the daily double and earned his 5,000th victory. In the finale, North America’s leading driver sent Lucky In Lust to the lead at the first quarter and from that point on it was lights out for the competition. Guy Valeriote trains and co-owns the eight-year-old Northern Luck-Lusty Lass mare, who won by two and quarter lengths in 1:58.3, with Mike Valeriote of Brantford, Ont.
Jamieson is currently in the midst of a career year having recorded 724 victories and over $10.9 million in purses so far. With 715 of those wins on Canadian soil, the 33-year-old resident of Cambridge, Ont. remains on track to surpassing the national single season’s record of 739 set in 2006 by Mark MacDonald.
