Flying Officer Scores Track On 2 Record

In the final race of the Sunday (Aug. 9) card at The Track on 2, Flying Officer managed to hit the finish first in a record time.

Away sixth positioned 11 lengths off the speed, Flying Officer recouped ground past a :27.3 first quarter to race third over in a developing flow approaching a :58 half. Silent Rescue, the 7-5 favourite, led the charge first over but stalled passing three-quarters in 1:26.3.

Driver Tyler Redwood rolled Flying Officer after the lead spinning into the stretch. The four-year-old Riverboat King stallion made gains on late leader Silent Rescue to land a half length in front and score the victory in 1:56.2, beating the previous track record for aged pacing stallions of 1:57.1 set by Big Engine in Aug. 2019.

Now a nine-time winner in 40 starts, Flying Officer has banked $49,012. Glenn Lutz trains and co-owns the $8.20 winner with Janine Lutz.
