Moreau Sweeps Georgian Preferreds
Trainer Richard Moreau claimed victory in both $9,500 Preferred 3 events at Georgian Downs on Sunday (July 26).
Moreau first sent Oceanview Magnum to a 1:53 win in the Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 Pace. Driver Brett MacDonald placed the five-year-old Western Paradise gelding third as odds-on favourite Brodys Scrapper set an early clip of :27.1 and :56.3. MacDonald moved Oceanview Magnum for the front approaching three-quarters in 1:24.1 and cleared to command rounding into the final turn. Through the stretch Oceanview Magnum strolled to a one-length victory over Brodys Scrapper. Cool Rock took third.
Owned by Keith Cassell, Oceanview Magnum won his fifth race from 15 starts this season and his 25th from 75 overall, earning $163,370. He paid $7.70 to win.
In the other Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 Pace, Pro Beach gave Moreau and MacDonald another win with a wire-to-wire mile in 1:52.1. The five-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding took the field through fractions of :27.2, :57.1 and 1:24.2 and rolled to the finish while chased by Carsons Shadow, who sprinted a :26.4 final quarter to finish second by a half length. YS Lotus finished third.
Owned by Sylvain Descheneaux, GAAR Racing Stables and Gaston Bibeau, Pro Beach won his third race from 15 starts this season and his eighth race from 66 overall, earning $175,064. He paid $5.00 to win.
