Simple Kinda Man Scores At Red Shores
The final strides provided the payoff for Simple Kinda Man as he surged in the stretch drive to best Rose Run Quest at the wire in the Saturday night (July 25) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Jason Hughes provided the steer for trainer Chris MacKay and owners D Racing Stable and Don MacRae as Simple Kinda Man won the $3,000 Preferred Pace in 1:53.4. Rose Run Quest had to settle for second while pacesetter Lisburn was third.
Driver Marc Campbell scored a trio of victories to continue his grip on the driver’s standings. He won the $2,700 Fillies and Mares Open Pace with Arc Light with a 1:54.3 win from his own barn to score a training double after Eagle Jolt won earlier on the card in 1:57.1. Campbell’s other win was a catch-driving victory aboard Three Truths in 1:55.3 for trainer Paul Doyle of Charlottetown.
The Trevor Hicken stable was hot on the evening with two victories to provide Brodie MacPhee with the bulk of his driving triple. Hicken and MacPhee teamed up to win with Bank Of Dad in a 1:57.3 score and took the feature with Pillage And Burn in 1:55.3. MacPhee started his driving triple in race 2 with the Earl Smith trained Woodmere Rollex in 1:56.2.
The Saturday card handled $44,904 in wagering.
