Tioga Hosts NYSS Freshmen Sunday
Tioga Downs welcomes two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting colts & geldings on Sunday (July 26). Both divisions will race for a purse of $53,100.
Ambassador Hanover (Ake Svanstedt) and Sevenshadesofgrey (Corey Callahan) appear to be the ones to beat in the first division.
Ambassador Hanover is one-for-one in his career for trainer Svanstedt with a NYSS win at Yonkers Raceway. The Ron Burke-trained Sevenshadesofgrey is still searching for his first career win, but he boasts a pair of second-place finishes in two career starts including a second to Ambassador Hanover at Yonkers.
The second division will feature Incommunicado (Svanstedt), Special Prosecutor (Marcus Miller), and In The Cards (Scott Zeron). All three are coming in off NYSS wins at Yonkers.
Like stablemate Ambassador Hanover, Incommunicado has an unblemished record with one start and one win. The David Dewhurst-trained Special Prosecutor is one better, unbeaten in two career starts. In The Cards will also look to stay perfect in his second start for trainer George Ducharme, but it would seem that one of these colts will have to lose.
The 12-race card will start at 1:00 p.m.
