Track Record For Ocean Rock In OHSS

Sophomore pacing colt Ocean Rock put forth a sharp performance for his competition in the second of two divisions for the Ohio Sires Stakes (OHSS) at Scioto Downs on Saturday (July 18).

The second OHSS division saw Ocean Rock devastate the Scioto Downs track record with a 1:48.4 performance for driver Danny Noble. The son of Rockin Amadeus broke the record set in 2000 by Gallo Blue Chip (Dan Dube) of 1:50.

Owned by breeder Sandra Burnett, Ocean Rock left the gate at 3-5 odds for trainer Christi Noble and now has $266,677 in career earnings. The hard-trying Elver Hanover was second at 4-5 for Chris Page, while 90-1 Worthabuck was third.

Stanford Court enjoyed a front-stepping steer by Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. to notch his second victory in this series, winning with a 1:50.1 mile. The son of Nob Hill High, who is trained by Brian Brown for Robert Mondillo, Richard Lombardo, Hen-Shaut Stable and Lightning 5 Racing, was second in Leg 1 and captured Leg 2 in 1:50.3. The homebred bay colt now has $157,210 in career earnings. Stanford Court left the gate as the 1-5 favourite, with 7-2 Can Be Perfect second and longshot Gray Dragon third.

Yesterday's 8th race at Scioto was a rarity because TWO horses, Ocean Rock (3-5) and Elver Hanover, (4-5) both went off at odds of less than 1-1!!
