Dancin Lou Dashes To Victory In William Haughton
Stalking swift fractions from the pocket, Dancin Lou found daylight late in the stretch to dart to the lead and take the $391,300 William Haughton Memorial.
Backstreet Shadow parked past a :26 first quarter before taking a brief lead into the backstretch. Dancin Lou, also wide around the turn, soon swept past Backstreet Shadow to lead the field into the backstretch. Then Century Farroh, shuffled to third, tipped off the pylons to make his move for the front, clearing command from Dancin Lou past a :52.4 half.
Southwind Ozzi progressed first over rounding the far turn to race alongside Century Farroh coming to three-quarters in 1:20.2. Though Southwind Ozzi faltered into the stretch as Century Farroh fought to hold the front. With Southwind Ozzi dropping out of contention, driver Brian Sears had an opening to launch Dancin Lou out of the pocket. In the final eighth the four-year-old Sweet Lou stallion seized the lead from Century Farroh and stopped the clock in 1:47.2. Filibuster Hanover slid up the pegs for third with Backstreet Shadow settling for fourth.
Owned by David Kryway and 1362313 Ontario Ltd., Dancin Lou won his third race from five starts this season and his 15th from 36 overall, earning $847,559. Tahnee Camilleri trains the $6.00 winner.
