Freddie Takes Top Trot
After settling for the runner-up in last week’s top trot at the Charlottetown Driving Park, Freddie bounced back as a popular winner in Thursday’s $2,400 feature race.
Marc Campbell tucked in third with Freddie in the early stages of the assignment while Star Photo rolled to the lead and chopped out first-half fractions of :29.1 and :59.4. Freddie was on the move first over on the way to the half, and he showed a short lead while racing parked past the three-quarter pole in 1:29.3.
A :29-second closing quarter was enough for Freddie to earn the win by one-quarter of a length over Glider Man in 1:58.3. Majian Tango was third in the six-horse affair.
Campbell trains the eight-year-old son of Majestic Son-Circe Hanover for the Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, PE. He now boasts a 4-1-0 record from five trips to the track this season. The 64-time winner is closing in on $160,000 in career earnings.
