Harkness Recovering
Trot Insider has learned that well-known Atlantic Post Calls editor Doug Harkness has been hospitalized
since November 9.
Standardbred Canada Truro Raceway field representative Diane Daniels, who also works in the Truro race office, told Trot Insider that Harkness was admitted to Cumberland Regional Hospital in Amherst, NS on November 9 due to pneumonia.
Harkness, who will be turning 71 years of age on Saturday, November 28, was transferred to the Halifax Infirmary in Halifax, NS yesterday for testing on his heart.
Daniels told Trot Insider that Harkness spoke at length with horseman Scott Daniels yesterday and that he was in very good spirits.
According to Diane, Scott said that unless you knew that something was wrong with Harkness, you would have no clue that there was anything wrong with him.
With his mind always on the Maritime harness racing scene, Diane said that Harkness spoke with Scott about the year-end edition of Atlantic Post Calls.
Check back with this story for updates on Harkness, as they will be posted when they become available.
Please join Standardbred Canada in sending best wishes and a full recovery to Doug Harkness.
